Well, I’m unemployed.
I wish I was the kind that kissed and told because I think the story behind why I’m unemployed is a humdinger. But being indiscreet in a public forum like this one just isn’t how I roll. So, let’s stay focused on the positive — like finding a new gig so me and mine can continue on in the manner to which we’ve become accustomed.
Stay tuned…

Okay, I’ve learned an important lesson: Don’t just rush out and buy records that Entertainment Weekly has given an A. It’s happened to me twice now — once with the latest Foo Fighters (which was alright, but certainly not the Second Coming of Christ EW claimed it was), and now again with In Rainbows by Radiohead. I’ve been a Radiohead fan for a while now, but I’m starting to get a little tired of their tuneless studio putterings. I thought Hail to the Thief from a few years back was a step in the right direction, but “Rainbows” is a step back. When these guys are tight and disciplined, they make some of the coolest music out there. Unfortunately, they seem to have lost interest in being tight and disciplined. With the exception of one or two tracks, the new album is meandering and listless. I’m not at all sure where that aforementioned “A” must have come from. Apparently, the reviewer had been huffing gas.

Why the hell would I set up a forum for a website which gets so little traffic? Well, I’ll tell you: rampaging neuroses. I’ve got a lot on my mind this weekend and sometimes doing something mindless helps me redirect my focus. Ergo: set up a forum that will probably get even less traffic than the site itself.
Or will it? Think about it: The salon des crabapple could be a no-holds-barred wonderland of free thought and hyper-intelligent discourse. We’re on the cusp of something big here, people! I can feel it.
Or we could just hang out and talk about video games and pornos. I’m cool with that too.

[I ditched the forum since it was just taking up space anyway. Paulie giveth and Paulie taketh away.]
I gotta say that, on the whole, I was pretty disappointed with Halo 3. For a game that generated the single most lucrative day in entertainment history, I was expecting that the writing would be substantially better. This long-awaited end to the saga was a serious let-down. Not just a let-down, but more of a “Huh? Are you kidding with that?”. Some real out-of-left-field stuff. To be fair, I did have a lot of fun with some of the actual game play, but, even there, many of the levels seemed as though they could have been better structured.
So, am I flat-out giving H3 a bad review? No, not really. The production values are high, I did have my fair share of fun with the game play, and I’m looking forward to some deathmatch. Overall, I got my 60$ worth, I just expected more. But, then again, maybe my standards were raised by my recent Bioshock experience.
