Late to the Game #3: The Xbox 360

I’ve owned just about every video game console since the Atari 2600 and, so far, I’d have to say the 360 is my favorite. The pretty graphics and — most importantly — the ability to download demos and casual games makes this machine a knock-out. Unfortunately, the latest console from Microsoft has a proven 30% failure rate (perishing with something called the “red ring of death”). That’s something to keep my eye on, but so far so good.

I started playing Bioshock last night. I’m just a little ways in, but so far it’s phenomenal — unlike anything I’ve ever played before.

The Bourne Ultimatum

The wife and I caught The Bourne Ultimatum this past weekend — it was her birthday, and she loves her some spy movies. Overall, I think this series has been really solid — Matt Damon’s good in them, the continuing storyline is engaging, and they’re very well-directed. This one didn’t really break the mold in that regard. Apart from the resolution being a little tepid “Ultimatum” was a fine addition to the franchise.
